summer is rapidly approaching which means skin, shine and SUN will be arriving soon. because i'm a past tanning bed and sun oil addict turned anti-sun freak and compulsive sunscreen applier it's my pleasure to enlighten you on my sun protection, sun repair and self tanners to keep your skin safe, moisturized and youthful.
it's important to protect your skin (and eyes) from the sun. if you're working outside, taking your dog on a short walk or sitting at your desk all day, it's equally important to keep your skin safe each time you're exposed to any bit of sun. daily i wear Peter Thomas Roth Uber-Dry Sunscreen SPF 30 under my makeup and Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch SPF 85 on my shoulders, neck and arms. I use these two "dry" sun protectants because I don't like the sticky lotion feel of many others. For a double layer of protection I use Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer SPF 20 (in the shade sand). For a mid-day freshen up i dust Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral Powder SPF 45 on my cheeks and nose.
on the occasion that i get too much sun and my skin begins to get dry and irritated these are the products i use to relieve the heat and inflammation. Murad's Redness Therapy line is an excellent corrector for sun damage as well as a calming agent to rosacea. i've shared my face cleansing routine in the past and the SUPER moisturizer makes its second debut in the sun care section as well. this is my everyday hydrator as well as my secret weapon. it calms and cools the slightest bit of sun and adds the needed moisture to keep your face looking youthful and alive. Yu-Be Skin Cream is a product new to my skin care cabinet as of this winter. Yu-Be heals cracks and irritation with a mild menthol coolant bringing relief to warm sun burned skin.
a girl has to get sun touched skin somehow and my somehow is by self tanners. beauty brands acknowledge the dangers of sun exposure and have produced filler products to give us anti-sun ladies a bronze glow. Dove Energy Glow is a reasonable alternative to St.Tropez Gradual Tan and both work excellently to produce a natural glow (without streaks) over a several week period. for a quick tan St.Tropez Self Tan Foam is well, the best. apply St.Tropez foam (after showering and exfoliating) with an old wash cloth for an all over even tone and watch your desired color appear within minutes. my mom uses L'oreal Sublime Bronze which is tan in a bottle. it's a mist that sprays on (like spray paint). after it is slightly dry, but still damp, she massages it into her legs with a daily lotion. her legs rock!!
i hope these products can help you prepare for the sun beams headed your way. if you have any questions about my regimen or products, leave me a comment. your questions help others and i like hearing from you!
